in oakland i'm tara moriarty ktvu channel 2 news. >>> if you thought gas prices were high over the weekend, guess what, they went up again while you were sleeping overnight. ktvu channel 2 reporter matt keller is in our newsroom with on how the governor is trying to step in to help. good morning, matt. >> reporter: we just got the new numbers. for the third straight day the average price for a gallon of regular hit another all time high at $4.67 a gallon. of course in the bay area you are paying a few cents more at $4.71 a gallon. drivers are frustrated at the high costs. especially compared to the rest of the country. now governor jerry brown is trying to help by ordering state smog regulators to allow winter blend to be sold in california earlier than usual to bring down prices. winter blend gas isn't typically sold until october 31st. he hopes by selling it now it would increase supplies by bringing down prices. the high prices are changing driving habits. >> i try not to drive unless i really have to. >> i'm grateful and i only use the bike when necessary. >> reporter: the dramatic sur
in traffic. ktvu's christien kafton joins us live from the city on just how people got around. >> reporter: you can see giant fans here making their way from at&t park. tonight's game mark it is end of a wild weekend making its way in and around town. >> the platform is very crowded, still downstairs. >> reporter: one look at the packed platforms and it was easy to see how b.a.r.t. broke its weekend ridership with 3,000 passengers. regular drivers said the trains were as crushed as any rush hour. >> coming in was a piece of cake. it was fine, nothing i can't handle. >> reporter: this is what those b.a.r.t. riders were hoping to avoid, back ups coming in and going outs of san francisco. >> it's crazy right now. i'm going to drive by the giant's game to see what's going on. >> reporter: on public transit. muni transits were packed. surprising even seasoned veterans. >> the busiest i've ever seen it. >> reporter: passengers say despite the tight conditions they managed to get where they needed to go when they needed to get there. >> it's a smooth ride. i can say that. and really crowded. >> r
, this is ktvu mornings on 2. >> good morning, welcome to mornings on 2, i am dave clark. >> i am tori campbell, thursday, october 4th. we begin with developing news on the morning commute. bart has been experiencing major system-wide delays to the past two hours. ktvu's alex savidge is live there with developments. >> reporter: good morning, yes, this was a stalled work vehicle that had triggered delays earlier on. but that problem has been taken care of. we did just get word from bart a couple of minutes ago that all of their trains this morning are now running on time. earlier on the delays were significant. show you video of what it looks like here with video. a bart spokesman told us they were experiencing 40 minute delays on two lines from the east bay into san francisco. that would be those lines. this was because of a maintenance vehicle blocking tracks early this morning south of the mcarthur station. now that vehicle has been cleared out of the way but trains were backed up. everything started about 4:30 this morning when that vehicle that rides actually on the bart tracks itself came
on ktvu.com and if you decide to hit the road, you can get live drive time traffic updates as well. >>> an officer-involved shooting in hayward leaves one man dead. paul chambers is live in hayward with why some people feared for the safety of children nearby. >> reporter: the scene is clear behind me, but this is where the officer-involved shooting happened. this is the second one so far this year. the other happened about two weeks ago. with this incident, the scary part, there were actually people playing in the park right here. and a few yards away from that, tree view elementary school's playground. just before 11:15 this morning, a haywood police officer came up on this honda accord, reported stolen. as the officer approached the car, he saw a man sitting inside. >> he ordered that occupant several times to show his hands and put his hands in the air. the suspect did not comply. >> reporter: investigators say that's when the officer looked over and saw the suspect reaching for a weapon. >> at that point, the officer fearing that the suspect was arming himself was forced to us
